[No, those signs are not identifying markers of our relationship roles.]

A few weeks ago Justin, my husband-preacher, asked Round Rock Church members to finish this sentence:

Jesus is ______________.

After a stirring lesson on the authority of Christ, my reverent husband wrote, “LORD.”

That stirring lesson was likely one of the best lessons I’ve ever heard. Ever. (You should listen to it immediately HERE.)

Anyway, after said stirring lesson I wrote, “Crazy.” And of course I didn’t mean “crazy.” But I did mean “crazy,” too.

Jesus is not 1) mentally insane. Although many thought He was, and to be fair, He would likely be diagnosed that way today.

He is 2) fantastic; strange. He is and was and, considering the book of Revelation, will be fantastically strange. Think transfiguration, resurrection, ascension… all the “ions.”

He is also, praise Him, 3) intensely eager and 4) infatuated.

4) Infatuated—“possessed by extravagant passion”—is a delicious word. Maybe I should have written “infatuated”…

No, I’m sticking with “crazy.” It’s layered and provocative and it’s one word that works for both me and my God (in varying intensities).

What’s your word?

Let’s pile up praise in the comments section today. Jesus is __________.

Go!
