In honor of the 50th anniversary of Dr. King’s words, words wet with the water of life, I watched his speech with my four year old over lunch.
I told her He was a man trying to be like Jesus, a man who wanted everyone to love everyone.
She patiently watched the black and white image on my computer screen and when Dr. King said “let justice roll down like waters” she smiled and looked at me and said, “He really knows God.”
My dream today is that my daughter (and your daughters and your sons, too) would be Martin Luther Kings—knowing God and leading God’s people to freedom.
